Hey, sorry it’s been so long since I posted, but the popularity of the blog hasn’t wained in my long winter break, which is marvelous! I have a whole stack of patterns to share, some that I own and some that I scanned at the British Library. There’s going to be a little delay while I sort out the confused digital folder I shoved them all into, as I need to check I’m not accidentally posting the same ones again.
In the mean time, does anyone have any finished jumper or works in progress from Sunny Stitcher scanned patterns? I’d love to see some pictures!
And has anyone else been drooling over ITV’s Home Fires season two (on PBS In America, see the picture above). So much great 1940’s knitwear. The Vintage Knitter has posted about it, and has been investigating which patterns were used. I’d like to give her a round of applause for the hard work and superior vintage knitting pattern spotting!
This is another vintage pattern of one era representing another, though for the first time it clearly calls it 1940s nostalgia. I think the man in the background looks rather menacing, as if he intends something violent toward the poor innocent lady smiling to the camera.
It’s in a wonderful range of bust sizes from 32 to 40 inches and is knitted up in a not very 1940s DK.
